Scribbles in the Sun

Well, the comments were getting a little out of hand on my last post, so I figured I better write something new if I wanted to keep my sanity...I did make it to the gym today and got all weighed and measured up. Can you believe that I'm actually 5 foot one inch and a half! And all this time, I've been telling people that I'm 5 foot and just one inch--today is a happy day for me! They also put these little electrodes on my right foot and hand and I was able to get a print out of some weird facts like how much water I had in my body today. My trainer is very french, and the way she spoke reminded me of a certain youth sponsor named Esther....People have told me that she works her clients very hard, but since I've never worked out in a gym before, she said she'd go a little softer on me for the first 3 months. I just heard the worst ad on the radio for Jenny Craig. They started off by saying that the average weight gain over the holidays is 7 to 10 pounds. Nothing like reminding us what pigs we're going to be in a few short weeks! I'm also going to buy a membership at the gym next week, and did you know that this is the cheapest time to get a gym pass? I thought they would have some good deals in January, but I have been informed by my friend who works at the gym that they boost their prices in January--that is probably when they make the most money during the year with all the New Years resolutions! My mom and dad sent me an email (well, they each sent me the same email separately), and it was so refreshing...basically it said, enjoy the holidays; eat the good food and don't feel guilty about it--it only comes around once a year. My favourite part said that you should drink lots of eggnog, and don't go for the "light" stuff either. I've been drinking eggn...

OK, I've finally entered the age of technology. Not only do I have the internet at home now, but I have also started this blog after being inspired by Joy and some of my friends from Cold Lake. I'm not really sure when I'll find the time to update it (it is called "Sleepless in Sylvan" for a reason), but I'm sure I'll get around to it. My life is a little frenzied at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! Christmas is coming so quickly, and it was so nice to take a few moments this morning during our large group time in Sunday School to light the advent candles and reflect on Christ's coming. There were some difficulties in communication, as we talked about Isaiah being a prophet and someone God told His special promises to. Some of the kids just couldn't get it straight that we were talking about a person, and not "profit" (although I was surprised that they knew what that meant too!).
